BJ's Wholesale in Garner - Beware Small Business Operator - A True Story I was hired by BJ's Wholesale in Garner, NC, to film a parade where they had a float. They hired me for one hour. The parade started late, and I ended up being there for 3 and a half hours, in 20 degree weather. When I went to bill the overtime, they refused to pay, saying the job was only authorized for 1 hour. That's it, end of story. Because I disagreed with the way they handled this, they decided that they did not even want to pay me for the hour that I was originally contracted for. So essentially, they told me, "thanks for coming out and freezing your butt off for almost 4 hours, and for editing a great piece and putting it on DVD's for us, but we don't want it anymore". So, the moral of the story is....if you want to support local business, buy from Sam's or Costco. BJ's doesn't seem to care or understand what it takes to run a small business. Thanks for listening.
